UCI:
Fabrication of TEST BED I: Carbon electronics. Graphene on PDMS devices. Nanotube arrays and matts. Specifically, UCI would fabricate electrically contacted single layer graphene devices on silicon wafers and also PDMS with integrated microfluidics for delivery to other team members. Also, UCI would fabricate electrically contacted nanotube arrays on quartz or silicon (dense, aligned arrays) and also random matts of unaligned nanotube devices for shipping to the functionalization teams. FUNCTIONALIZATION SCHEME II: Ion channel functionalization of TEST BEDS I, II, III.

Yale:
Fabrication of TEST BED II: Top down silicon nanoelectronics/nanowires. Ion channel measurements with lipid bilayer functionalization

Penn:
Fabrication of TEST BED III: Nanowire optics (emitter/detectors).

NYU:
FUNCTIONALIZATION SCHEME I: DNA Origami.

Marshall:
FUNCTIONALIZATION SCHEME I: DNA Origami.

UIC:
FUNCTIONALIZATION SCHEME I: DNA Origami/apatmers. Also, simulation of light emission for Si nanostructures (TEST BED III).

Wright:
Selectivity of THz with respect to bioparticles (Bacillus sp.) and nucleic acids; THz characterization of TEST BEDS I and II before and after functionalization, especially the graphene on PDMS and the nanowire/nanotube arrays.
